Nutrition support when every bite matters

Nutrition coaching for women on GLP-1 medication.  I help women get enough of what their body needs, protect muscle and bone health and build habits that continue to work when the medication changes or stops.

About Taryn

I am a UK-registered dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council. Through Mind Shift, I offer practical, non-medical nutrition coaching for women that works for real life.

Why nutrition support matters

A smaller appetite does not always mean better nutrition

GLP-1 medications are remarkably good at turning the volume down on food noise and hunger. What they don't do is look at what's on your plate. When you are eating much less, protein, fibre, fluid and key nutrients can quietly slip. I help you make the most of every bite to support your body and goals, without turning your life into another strict diet.

You want to lose fat while holding onto strength

Some of the weight loss can come from lean tissue, not only fat. Eating enough protein and doing the right kind of exercise can help protect the strength and function you would rather keep.

For women in perimenopause and beyond, protecting muscle and bone health is even more important.

In one major trial extension, participants regained about two-thirds of the weight they lost within a year.  Nutrition coaching can't promise to prevent regain, but building long-term healthy habits now gives you something solid to carry forward with and beyond the medication.

Maintenance deserves
its own plan

The goal is not simply a smaller body. It's a well nourished, strong and capable one too.

What we work on

NOURISHING A SMALLER APPETITE

01

We find realistic ways to get protein, fibre, fluid and nutrient-rich foods into meals you can actually manage.

PROTECTING MUSCLE & BONE

02

We work out a protein target and the foods that will help you reach it, even when your appetite has gone missing.

SUPPORTING SIDE-EFFECT SYMPTOMS

03

Nausea, constipation, reflux... Practical tweaks to meals, timing and portions to mitigate side effects.

THE LONG-TERM EXIT PLAN

04

We build habits that fit your real life and work on your relationship with food, so you're left on your own.

HOW IT WORKS

Simple, personal and built around real life.

01

Your initial session

We spend 45 minutes talking through your goals, appetite, symptoms, what you're eating, any lab results from your doctor and what real life looks like for you. No judgement and no food-police interrogation.

02

Your personal plan

Within 48 hours, you receive a clear, personal plan with meal ideas and recipes built for small appetites and busy lives. Nothing fussy or overly complicated.

03

Regular reviews

Bodies and appetites change, so the plan can too. Follow-ups are where we look honestly at what is working, what is getting in the way and what would make things easier.

04

Coordination with your doctor

Your doctor stays in charge of your medication and medical care. With your permission, I can share a nutrition update with them.

PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES

A quick note on what I do and what stays with your doctor.

I help with the food and habit side of the picture. I don't diagnose or treat medical conditions, interpret blood tests, prescribe supplements for a medical condition or tell you to start, change or stop medication. That stays with your doctor. If something comes up that needs medical attention, I will always point you back to them.

My approach to healthy weight loss is that there are no crash diets, perfect meal plans or lectures about willpower here. We work together, with your preferences, your schedule and the fact that birthdays, dinners out, vacations and ordinary Tuesdays are all part of life.

FOR DOCTORS

The practical nutrition follow-through your patients may be missing.

You may have patients who understand the advice, but need more help putting it into practice between appointments. I support adult women using GLP-1 medication with day-to-day eating, nutritional adequacy and sustainable habits, while you remain responsible for their medical care.

WHAT I COVER

I help patients make smaller appetites work better: enough protein, fibre and fluids; nutrient-rich food in manageable portions; practical adjustments around common gastrointestinal symptoms; muscle-supportive eating; and habits for the longer term.

WHAT REMAINS WITH YOU

Diagnosis, blood tests, prescribing, dose changes, medication monitoring, medical management and treatment of diagnosed deficiencies all stay with you as the clinician.  With the patient's consent, I can share brief updates on nutrition priorities we are working on and send any medical concern back to you.
